IoniqaCircular PET-recycling to next level: 1,000 Liter Runs

Ioniqa’s circular solution for PET-plastics has reached a next level after the success of the recent 100 liter scale up. Ioniqa will start testing at Plant One Rotterdam its PET-recycling procedure on a 1,000 liter scale. The last stop before proceeding to industrial level of 10.000 ton production in 2017.
“The 1,000 liter scale-up is the next exciting step in our quest to close the loop for PET-plastics,” says Tonnis Hooghoudt, CEO of Ioniqa. “Each year millions of tons of post-consumer PET-waste ends up down-cycled, dumped or incinerated which is totally unnecessary. With the use of our Magnetic Smart Process we are able to recycle all kinds of used colored PET into ‘virgin’ raw materials, a procedure that can be repeated endlessly and competes with oil-based PET materials.”
Ioniqa will use the pilot-facilities and services of Plant One Rotterdam. A specific industrial area in the Port of Rotterdam region, focusing on innovative start-ups and researchers to test new sustainable technologies on a commercial scale. In the coming period Ioniqa will establish here all necessary equipment for testing and scaling her PET-recycling technology.
