Partnerships

Ioniqa established strategic partnerships with various multinational stakeholders in the PET Polyester value chain.

Together with KTS, Ioniqa is working on scaling up and commercializing its advanced Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) recycle technology in the plastics industry.

The partnership is working to address the growing demand for recycled content in the 30 million metric tonnes per annum PET market. Ioniqa’s technology offers a solution to PET waste that is currently non-recyclable, turning the waste into materials suitable for high quality food grade applications such as beverage bottles.

The Partnership of Ioniqa with Unilever was announced in April 2018 with the aim to convert PET waste back into virgin grade material for use in food packaging.

Also in April 2018 Indorama Ventures, the largest global producer of PET resin, joined the partnership with Unilever and Ioniqa.

Last December Coca-Cola announced a new agreement with Ioniqa extending a loan to facilitate the development of Ioniqa’s proprietary technology to produce high-grade, recycled PET content from hard-to-recycle PET waste.

Technology that could cut PET plastic waste

A new way to recycle PET plastic could transform the industry. Listen to Sanjeev Das, R&D Packaging Director, Foods at Unilever, talk about a new technology that converts PET waste back into virgin grade material for use in food packaging.
